Abstract
Personal Reflections and Interpretation Everything, Everywhere All at Once “Everything, Everywhere All at Once” is a science fiction comedy with so much to doubt as most of its actions does not seem practical in real life. For instance the changing character of Evelyn Wang and her husband during their meeting with the auditor, their unimaginable powers and so forth proves so fictional to be applicable in real-life. The film is directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert and was released in 2002. It starts Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang a Chinese-American woman who is swept into an inter-dimensional adventure. Wang and her husband are struggling with their Laundromat business and are being audited by IRS as represented by Deirdre. Despite the financial struggles, Wang is also experiencing marital challenges with divorce papers awaiting her while amidst all these her daughter lesbianism worsens Wang’s mental health. Fictionally, Wang is also contacted by a version of her husband from an alternative universe who reveals to her that parallel universes exists and that only Wang is the key to stopping a great evil threatening the multi-verse. The film made me emotionally disturbed as I watched a stressed or do I say a depressed character “Wang” who seemed so lost in thoughts. She seemed confused to me and upon realizing all that she was going through financially and psychologically, I was able to connect the dots. When Wang was in a meeting with the auditor, I felt sorry for her as she expressed a disturbed figure that would leave the meeting going on and vanish in a world of her own.
