Abstract

Sectors of the Theatre Industry Theatre is a very influential industry amongst youths. The Theatre industry enables artists to take risks, give power to truth, and advocate for new and diverse voices. It is an industry that uses actors and dramas within a commercial setting to communicate a concept, raise awareness and enhance training (Weinberg et al., 2021). For this reason, any person with a defined passion in this industry would love to work as a theatre designer, light and power director, or a theatre manager. The positions mentioned above serve as the basis of this essay's analysis. A theatre designer is an exciting position as it allows employees to express their ability in organizational skills and creative teamwork engagements. My interest lies in sound theatre design at the University of Denver, whose primary duty involves designing paperwork and working drawings that enhance understanding of this theatre sector to the target audiences, which in this case are students. For one to qualify for this position, it is mandatory to express defined abilities in communication and organizational skills as the roles demand teams works and excellent knowledge to deliver. It is also imperative to have extraordinary skills to troubleshot technical issues and engage and mentor students during the production process to enhance the trust of one's competence among students in this sector. For this reason, it is imperative to have a degree in theatre designs/technology or compensatory work experience as the minimum requirement to be deemed a theatre designer. According to the University of Denver, theatre designers will receive a stipend of $2200-3300 as compensation. Still, the exact amount will depend on the size of the cast, venue, and design requirements (Indeed.com 2022). It is a compensation range that the University argues represents its reasonable faith estimate of what the institution might pay for the position at employment. However, it is imperative to note that the University might pay more or less of the estimated compensation range based on the designer’s qualifications, sex, and experience, among other factors.
