Abstract

Modern Art, what do you think of impressionist and postimpressionist art? People usually have strong feelings one way or the other. The two notable aspects, impressionist and postimpressionist art, were influential in France's artistic movements prevalent in the late 19th century. Impressionist art was known for paintings that captured light's transience, depicted modern life, and defined the world in ever-shifting conditions. Impressionists favored independent exhibitions and rejected state-controlled academics and manifestations of art. The inspiration of their art was the contemporary landscape, and they exhibited concentrated on emerging issues. Their artistic works derailed the past and historical and mythical narratives but drew their inspiration from everyday encounters. The innovative features of the light and the atmosphere greatly influenced the impressionists. The impressionist broke what the realist of art began. Their art embraced vibrant colors and short quick brush strokes. Post-impressionism art was a reaction to impressionism. According to (Pompili 202), the founders of impressionism included; Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, and Georges Seurat. The postimpressionists rejected the impressionist’s artistic contours on the use of natural light and color. They focused more on order and structure, and symbolic content. Postimpressionist artists were brought together with the impressionists' dissatisfaction and wanted to create something new in the artistic world. They were devoted to symbolism. They looked for deeper meanings in subjects and scenes and expressed them in their paintings. Everything about their art was synthesized and encompassed artistic choices of color, form, and line, the outward appearance of the subject, and the artist’s emotional reaction to the subject. Emotion was the center of postimpressionist art, and it was significantly conveyed in their painting in intense colors and brushstrokes.
