Abstract
A defense for abortion is the most debated aspect of contemporary society. Thomson's Violinist argument has heightened the abortion debate, receiving both criticism and defense. In his violinist thought experiment, he argues that the fetus has a right to life. Using a violinist’s thought of experiment, Thompson argues that it is permissible to unplug a violinist due to its limited rights to life. A violinist does not have a right to use someone else’s body. Allowing a violinist to use one’s kidneys is an act of kindness; therefore, one can abort at their consciousness. Thompon defends a mother’s termination of a 7-month pregnancy as insane since it is like killing a live baby. He argues that a mother shouldn't abort the fetus because of a trip or vacation abroad. Thomson’s defense for abortion is absurd, and abortion is never morally permissible. His argument raises questions about the fetus’s rights. The right to life does not amount to murder, and Thompson treats murder as unproblematic. Thompson’s arguments are not convincing. How is supporting life an act of kindness? It’s a responsibility that should take cause. Everyone has a right to preserve life. Marquis begins his discussion on abortion, alluding that murder is wrong. He argues that abortion deprives a person of a future like ours. Marquis is correct because there is no justification for the killing of any individual. Abortion is morally wrong, and there is no valid justification for murder. Biblically it is wrong since life is sacred, and God is the only one who gives it and takes it away. The proof for abortion is sugar-coated and thrives for no meaningful reason. Marquis's argument on abortion is valid. There is a problem with Thompsons' argument. A lot of inconsistency portrays itself in his arguments....
