The great depression was a period that swept all the growth and prosperities that the global economies had experienced after the Great War of 1914-18. Political leaders like President Coolidge and Hoover, among others, did not anticipate the depression thus promised their voters good times during their tenure in office. To this effect, the great depression got many leaders un-prepared which challenged its management due to unfavorable working environments that dragged economies to their worst. Hoover defined the World War as the great cause of the Greta Depression, arguing that American governance played no role in fostering such a depression. The fall of the German Banking system in 1931 attributed to unsound policies and the hurricane that swept the American shore originated from Europe and played a significant role in defining the Great Depression, argued Hoover (Pg, 169). MacDonald blamed capitalism for the great depression while Germans associated politics with the origin of depression. In the end, Garraty argues that the depression origin became a blame game which made the situation worse before the right strategies became implemented and enforced to manage the situation (Pg, 170-176).
