Abstract

Instructor’s Name The Battle of the Alamo was a pivotal revolution in shaping American history. In the 1820s, Americans moved toward the west and encroached on the land of Texas, which the Mexicans then inhabited. The Mexicans were receptive and lived with them amicably, and some became Mexican citizens. History shows that in 1832, things changed when Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana took power and established a dictatorship. The new government stirred feud among the Texas who revolted against it. The conflict was influenced by the Texas Declaration of Independence and the siege of the Alamo. The movement of people to Texas was an attraction of land and opportunity. The Mexicans wanted to seize the North, compelling them to establish colonization laws against the Texans. Texans gained independence through a rallying cry, "Remember the Alamo ."General Anat Sano provided an overwhelming military base against the Texans, but they managed in 13 days to secure victory with few casualties. The battle of the Alamo was about victory or death. Texas became a self-governing republic, and the Texans still enjoy the fruits of Freedom today. The Battle of the Alamo goes in history as a patriotic sacrifice. The fight did not leave the Texans unscathed since they were wounded. The Mexican soldiers launched three attacks on March 6; almost all Texans were killed, leaving behind women and children. The non-combat survivors spread the news about the defeat in Alamo, which fueled a feud for revenge. The Patriots did not lose hope over the overwhelming cruelty of the Texan defendants in the Battle of the Alamo. The defeat brought panic to Texan settlers, who universally agreed to join the Texan Army launching an attack that defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. The defeat was the end of the Texas Revolution. The American revolts could retreat to safety, but Lieutenant Colonel William Travis, Jim Bowie, and approximately 145 Texan rebels in [City, State], sacrificed to fight for their freedom.
