Abstract
[Name] The United States of America applies the democratic government system where people hold ultimate power. The American citizens elect the government. In a democratic government, people make decisions through government representatives (Urbinati, 2011). The Constitution allows people to drive the government. Direct democracy allows people to change, modify and reject laws through referenda and ballot initiatives. Further, people practice their political power through voting, where they choose suitable representatives in an election. The US congress is the primary example of a representative government. Representatives selected by the people through voting act as the voice of the Americans. It educates Americans on the goals of the government (Abernathy, 2018). Representative democracy is essential since Americans have a chance to voice their opinion and issues in the political system. For instance, the Americas can monitor how the taxes they pay to the government are used in state improvement. Therefore, state representatives argue on citizens’ behalf in ensuring that their economic, political, technological, and social issues are addressed. I firmly believe in representative democracy because representatives help in protecting wealth and American culture. Further, they help in solving issues and problems. American people encounter intending to improve the community and the country. Additionally, using representatives makes finding common ground easier during decision-making. It would not be easy to reach a consensus with over 300 million people during policy making. I think representative democracy is perfect and efficient since it helps in saving money and time. The money saved can be used for the completion of other projects. Further, many people benefit when representative votes to support their wishes and needs. References Abernathy, S. F. (2018).
