Abstract

American History Before 1877 Research questions: To what extent did tension between Mexicans and Immigrants in 1829 foster permanent conflicts leading to civil war? How did the influx of immigration in the mid-1840 enhance inevitability of civil war? What role did the panic of 1857 play in enhancing sectional conflicts between the North and the South defining how the civil war became inevitable?
