Racial Harmony Challenges in The Great Melting Pot

Abstract

[Name] Response: Concepts and Characters portrayed “[Author]” video explores the complex and often contentious dynamics of racial differences between African Americans and the White Americans. Based on the video, it is open that societal change particularly in terms of racial harmony is a form of revolution that is unfolding in the present. It is a theme that underscores the ongoing struggles and conversations about race in the contemporary society. As the Video starts, one can see a very happy African American mother whose optimism in a changed ideology about the previously embraced stereotypes that defined African Americans remains well defined. She is all ready to host her friends for dinner whom she believes will make her children understand that American have embraced diversification as an aspect that defines its nations populace. She cites that “change is revolution and we are experiencing that right now” (02:00). Her daughter doesn’t seem moved by her Mum’s statement because her thoughts of the expected visitor are contrary to her Mums. However, as a way of emphasizing on her point, the Black mom adds that as at current they were living in a society that care who you are and where you are from as the son gets home from school. The white mom and daughter gets to the African American home just a few minutes after the African American son goes upstairs to freshen up eager to meet the girl whom his mom claims is almost his age. Their interactions are polite which reflects a desire for racial harmony and understanding. Even the visit itself is an indication of revolution that the African mom emphasized on at the beginning of the video. However, such harmonious interactions prove short lived. As soon as the son came downstairs and found that the visitors were white he expresses a very negative attitude changing the atmosphere of the room. The son is skeptical...
