Impact of Lyndon Johnson on Texas Politics Lyndon Johnson was born in Texas in 1908 and later became the President of America in 1963. In the 1960s. Lyndon Johnson established himself as a Texas politician. After the death of John Kennedy, Lyndon transformed Texas and the entire South using his power and the resources provided by the federal government (Lamb, 2005). Lyndon also pushed for the end of segregation since it caused a divide between the people of the South and those of the entire nation. The civil rights legislation supported equal voting rights, equal chances to job opportunities, and equal access to public amenities regardless of race Lyndon Johnson is legendary because he carried out programs against poverty. Johnson provided medical care for the elderly and those who were not financially stable (Lamb, 2005). Additionally, he also provided houses at a very low cost. He also created job opportunities for unemployed people by supporting the Works Progress Administration. Johnson also gave aid to help in the urban renewal and the economic growth of Texas. Johnson also prevented crime and delinquency in Texas. The most celebrated gift of Lyndon to Texan people is electricity installation, especially in rural areas.
