Abstract
Instructor’s Name Eschatology is a branch of theology that describes the end times, depicting the end of the world and humankind. Evangelical Christianity perceives eschatology as the ultimate purpose of God’s intentions toward humanity. Based on the New Testament teachings in the holy Bible, evangelical Christianity believes that Jesus Christ is his creation's origin and final destiny. The major themes in Christian eschatology include; death, resurrection, heaven, hell, the rebirth of a new heaven and earth, fulfillment of God’s purpose, and the end of the world. The church believes that there is a second coming of Jesus and will be accompanied by the day of Judgment. Evangelical Christians tell us that we should behave ourselves following the scriptures, and we don’t know the hour or moment that rapture might occur. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed (English Standard Version 2 Peter 3:10). The trembling of the world will accompany the second coming of the Lord. No one will believe the might of God, and the righteous will rejoice in him. The dead shall rise to await Judgment. “the Lord, himself, will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord” (ESV 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). The book of Revelation gives insight into eschatology. The proceedings of eschatology are astonishing. The sinners will be thrown into a lake of fire and burnt forever. The holy will sing songs of accolades and praise to their creator...
