Abstract

Instructor’s Name Human Subjects protection is an important aspect of ethics that create an amicable environment in research. The most important concept in ethical research is the principles of ethics. The ethical principles provide guidelines and procedures for which biomedical and behavioral research involving human subjects. Some of these principles are documented in the Belmonte Report which forms an acceptable code of conduct for human subjects. they constitute; the respect of persons, beneficence, and justice. The code of justice stipulates that the selection of human subjects has to be fair and equitable. This reduces the risk of using undesirable persons which risks the research process and research integrity. The three principles of ethics enable the research subjects to trust the researchers and provide an opportunity that represents their best interests at heart. There are a lot of potential risks that may arise during the research process. The principle of beneficence protects human subjects from potential harm and minimizes the potential risks of harm. The respects of persons entail the conscience of the dignity and autonomy of persons during the research process. This ethical principle entails obtaining informed consent which ensures that participation is voluntary. Understanding the three principles stipulated in the Belmont Report provides a platform where the research can conform to the human subjects in the research process. White argues that risks for unethical behavior and serious adversity can be minimized by adhering to ethical principles. The principle of ethics provides individual responsibility in the execution of the research process. Human subjects ought to be treated with human dignity to guide the research process.
