Abstract
Week 2 Discussion: Ethical Considerations- Chapter 3 and 4 [Name] There are a number of ethical considerations or obligations entitled to a researcher while conducting research. These considerations serves as the rules/principles of behavior that act to dictate what is acceptable within research field. They include ensuring respondents have been given informed consent, ensuring no harm comes to respondents as well as ensuring confidentiality if appropriate anonymity (Zina, 2021). While conducting my research I believe keeping up with all these ethical considerations is paramount. While paying close attention on the first consideration, I believe it serves as the key determinant of a credible research work thus the need to explore it to understand it further. Ensuring respondents have given informed consent: An informed consent implies that the researcher has made the respondents an opportunity to understand what the research is all about in terms of their engagements therein thus willingly accept to get involved. Based on Zina (2021), participants can only give informed consent if they fully understand their involvement in the research based on time commitment, nature of activity, topics to cover, all physical and emotional risks potentially involved. Such knowledge makes such respondents become defined as competent in that they express reasonable intellectual capacity and psychological maturity; they are also autonomous such that they make self-directed and self-determined choices. It is through informed consent that participants becomes voluntary involved in the research in that they are not forced or pressured to participate as well as always aware of their right to discontinue incase of any discomforts. Such respondents are not deceived, coerced or induced during research as the informed consent make them aware of what is expected of them and the boundaries to on serve in case of a contrary outcome.
