Abstract

[Name] [Name] English 1302-160 6 October 2022 Annotated Bibliography Berg, Amy. “Abortion and Miscarriage.” Philosophical Studies: An International Journal for Philosophy in the Analytic Tradition, vol. 174, no. 5, 2017, pp. 1217–1226. INSERT-MISSING-DATABASE-NAME, INSERT-MISSING-SERVICE-NAME, https://doi.org/10.1007/s1[phone]-z. Accessed 6 Oct. 2022. A common argument against abortion is that fetuses are people from conception, making it illegal. Abortion is dangerous, but miscarriage—which ends 89% of pregnancies—is far more deadly. This indicates that, if pro-lifers are correct, miscarriage is our time's most significant public health emergency. Yet they give miscarriage very little thought, especially very early loss. The difficulty of preventing miscarriage or the distinction between murdering and letting die has not been successful in resolving this contradiction, leaving us with a problem. Those who oppose abortion should either push for a significant change in our nation's political and medical priorities or abandon the idea that fetuses have inherent rights and human dignity from conception. Quast, Troy, et al. “Abortion Facility Closings and Abortion Rates in Texas.” Inquiry, vol. 54, 2017, pp. 1–7. A total of 7.2 abortions per 1000 women aged 10 to 49 were performed in Texas between 2004 and 2014, a decrease of almost a third from 10.7 in that period. The number of abortion clinics functioning for at least six months of the year decreased from 40 to 27 throughout this time. We looked at the connection between the prevalence of abortions and the location of abortion clinics. From 2004 to 2014, we compared yearly statewide data on abortion rates in Texas with the separation between the county centroids and the closest operational abortion facility. The relationship between abortion rates and the location of abortion facilities was estimated using linear regressions. Kulathilaka, Susil, et al. “Depressive Disorder and Grief Following Spontaneous Abortion.” Bmc Psychiatry, vol. 16, no. 1, 2016, pp. 1–6. Symbolic Background Abortion is linked to moderate risk of psychological issues, including depression, marijuana or alcohol usage, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts and actions. It is a wonder whether there is a higher risk of depression among Asian populations following spontaneous abortion. The connection between grieving and depression following abortion has only been briefly studied. Methods To compare the risk of depression among pregnant women attending antenatal clinics with that of women 6 to 10 weeks after the spontaneous abortion, a study was done to determine the risk factors of depressive disorder and grief among women. Women who were diagnosed with spontaneous abortion by a consultant obstetrician made up the improvisational abortion group. Women with known or possible induced abortions were disqualified. Terri Susan Fine. “Generations, Feminist Beliefs and Abortion Rights Support.” Journal of International Women's Studies, vol. 7, no. 4, 2018. Do factors like gender and generation that affected feminist attitudes in the past, such as support for abortion legislation, still affect feminist beliefs today? The debate over abortion rights was portrayed as a feminist issue during the feminist movement. Still, it is now self-evident that these arguments are partisan and ideological. The general public may no longer see specific topics once considered feminist issues circulated throughout the feminist movement. The fight for abortion rights was picked since it is frequently believed to be exclusively a female issue. Beaman, Jessica, et al. “Medication to Manage Abortion and Miscarriage.” Journal of General Internal Medicine, vol. 35, no. 8, 2020, pp. 2398–2405. INSERT-MISSING-DATABASE-NAME, INSERT-MISSING-SERVICE-NAME, https://doi.org/10.1007/s1[phone]6-9. Accessed 6 Oct. 2022. Millions of US women experience miscarriage and abortion every year. One in four American women will have had an abortion by age 45, and at least many more will have miscarried. When pharmaceutical abortions are a safe and viable option, employing a regimen of oral mifepristone followed by misoprostol tablets, most people who seek abortion services do so before ten weeks of gestation. Early pregnancy loss or miscarriage is when a pregnancy is not viable before 13 weeks gestation, and...
