Abstract

Question 1 Notably, having a good connection with the group is relatively important. In this case, having a good approach in welcoming each member of the group will go a long way in helping solve the whole process and improve the cohesion of the group. In welcoming the group members, I will first introduce myself formally and then request each member to introduce themselves by name and residence. I will then go ahead and request each of them to describe how they feel about the session and how they think we should progress. I will also consider the accrued reaction and perception of each group member to help inform on how I will actively involve each one of them in the group and solve their anxiety problem. Initially, we will discuss general things in life including how they feel about their current life situation including their normal existence. I will love to understand the particular points I their life when they feel most anxious. In this situation, the kind of leadership style that I will is participative leadership which is largely focuses on democracy. Since it is the beginning of the group, using participative leadership will ensure that I am able to create a strong team which is able to share ideas and help each other progress in more cohesive manner. Through this approach, the results and decisions made will reflect each member of the group contribution and it will help them take an active role in every activity of the group. I will involve each member of the group by asking them simple and general question that they can be able to respond to and which give a general view of how they perceive their current situation. The questions will not vary from one individual to another to ensure that the intended outcome is the same. Question 2 Three major leadership styles include autocratic, paternalistic and democratic leadership styles. Autocratic style is a style that largely focuses on the accrued distinction between authoritarian leaders and their followers. It is a kind of leadership style that makes the leaders feel that their accrued supervision is fundamental to the success of a given group and it always follows the vision of those individuals who are in control. The vision is not necessarily compatible with the members of the group and the major focus is on efficiency regardless of the impact it might have on the individual being directed. An example of areas where the leadership style is applied is when a traffic police is directing the traffic or when a teacher is ordering a student. Paternalistic leadership style is a kind of leadership style where the leader acts as a parental figure by taking care of the juniors or subordinate as a parent would. In this kind of leadership, the leader supplies complete concern to the members of the group with the objective of creating trust and loyalty (Gandolfi & Stone, 2018). Individuals under this kind of leadership are expected to become independent and yet become committed to what the leaders believe. It creates a solid relationship between the leaders and the members of the group by creating some kind of family where leaders and members are actively able to share issues and problems. Democratic kind of leadership involves a situation where leaders share the decision-making abilities with the members of the group and largely encourages social equality. How far the democracy can go is determined by the groups needs and the attributes of the individuals in the group....
