As resources are depleted and population increases globally, there will be need to identify and implement solutions to water scarcity for the affected regions. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is one of the regions in the world most affected by water scarcity. Causes of the problem include a growing population, limited resources to meet the needs of the people, inefficient use of available water reserves, and lack of governance of the available water reserves. The MENA region includes countries that are the most affected by water scarcity in the world and there is need to use the available resources more efficiently (Belhaj, 2025). To increase efficiency in the use of the available resources, the governments are focusing on using renewable energy sources to meet the demand for water. By modernizing water networks and through innovative public-private relationships, MENA seeks to increase efficiency in water utilization to secure resources for its future generations. Water is a critical resource and scarcity can threaten people’s lives and health. Access to clean and safe water should be a fundamental right since it is a resource necessary for the survival and well-being of human beings on the planet. It is necessary that governments, organizations, members of the public, and international organizations coordinate to identify causes of the problem and invest in solutions for all people.
