Essay on the Idea of Waste in the American Culture. The concept of waste is a major problem in American Society. A wasteful person is an individual who spends money, staff, or commodities extravagantly for no valid reason. America is a land of plenty yet the most wasteful country globally. According to a report by Verisk Maplecroft, a global risk assessment and consulting firm, the United States accounts for four percent of the world’s population, producing 12 percent of the world’s solid waste (Maalouf). Unfortunately, most Americans believe that waste is a problem but have not found sufficient ways to reduce their waste. There is too much trash from the inhabitants due to the excessiveness of staff and commodities. Why do most Americans buy foods and staff in excess that they cannot handle? This discussion on waste matters credits the work of Lar Feigners, a prolific writer who engages in dumpster diving only to realize how wasteful the Americans are in their spending and consumption. The idea of the waste problem is a critical problem but has often been ignored by Americans in broad daylight. This essay will unveil the American culture that is wasteful and careless based on their dumping. Americans waste because it is a world of plenty and opportunity. When Americans buy new staff, they throw away the old ones without thinking of donating. Someday was walking along the streets and I found comfy seats left as dumping and I felt they should have been donated to the poor. Honestly, the seats were better than mine. This is pure laziness. Americans do not have time to donate commodities; they find it a lot of work to approach people and give them staff. Americans are confused. That is why they have much to waste. Another waste in the water. Water wastage is eminent, and people are prone to leaving running tap water and using lots of water in washing clothes that should have been conserved. Americans prefer taking baths to showers which limits water conservation. Wates of energy is common in the American culture. People leave lights, unnecessary electricity-consuming equipment in use without consideration of wastage. The concept of waste has become a norm in the American culture and people are doing it without their conscience. It’s ridiculous that some people are starving in America and around the globe yet they are a lot of waste that hails from households. Americans waste more than some other countries consume. “Feeding America” projects that in 2021, 42 million people including 13 million people, may experience food insecurity (Bazerghi 732).
