By defining the topic in their own words and later giving a general description, I expect the learners to have an understanding of what I mean by the word, “community.” From there, they will have the knowledge to provide examples of their own communities such as the school, their town, and their neighborhood (Charlesworth & Lind, 2016). The examples the learners provide will define how they respond to the other aspects of the topic including the role of a community, its members, and their reflection on their community. Communities are formed for different reasons and the students by now can provide examples of such roles. They bring people together to study, work, live together, and play together.
