From Jenga to Civil Engineering: My Transformative Career Journey

Abstract

At the time, my young mind could not comprehend the concept of gravity and the various ‘magical’ forces that worked either downwards or sideways to impact to cause my structure to fall over. All I knew was that it took a steady hand to remove the pieces and pile them on top of each other while trying my best not to topple the structure. My dream to become a civil engineer gave me an opportunity in Bechtel Corporation to work as a civil engineer.Since my father introduced me to the Jenga game, I have always been fascinated by buildings. Since then I have taken steps such as attending Engineering themed summer camps and visiting locally held construction expos to satisfy my curiosity on how the industry was progressing in my hometown.I carried that fascination throughout my elementary school stage in my education.
