Abstract
Scholarship essay Education is a stepping stone to a brighter future. Having an education gives one a better chance to improve livelihoods, social stability, and economic development. I grew up in a place that did not encourage education, and this became a motivation to work hard to shed light on the power of education in my community. I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States when I was 12. My parents wanted to see my dreams come true I have always wanted to make my parents proud by giving all after all the sacrifice and efforts they have put in me to get a better education. Growing up with different citizenship was the biggest calling of my life, and there was nothing I could do about it other than work hard compared to other students. Due to the change in climatic conditions, after I moved into the US, my health deteriorated. I developed chronic asthma, which has trampled me down for several years. My doctor says I need close monitoring to keep me in check. It's not the first time we fighting asthma in our family. Two years ago, my brother lost the battle to asthma after a long-term illness. His memories are fresh in our minds, and we cannot afford to see another breakdown happen to us again. My brother left us with medical bills and expenses that drained us financially. Even though my parents have casual jobs, the money is not enough to tackle the stringent daily conditions. The community has raised me, and well-wishers have always given me a platform to study hard in school....
