Connecting Course Content to Research Paper Activity

Abstract

(1) Before you begin, be sure to closely review the rubric that will be used to grade this assignment. You can find this at the following link: POS2041-Burks_Final Project Rubric. (2) Next, think about the topic of your activity, and how it may connect to the course content. Identify two or (better yet) three levels to which you think the activity will connect. Scanning the table of contents of the textbook is a great way to recall the different levels and concepts covered. (3) After you have identified a few levels that may connect to the activity, look over the chapters in the textbook associated with these levels so the concepts will be fresh in your mind. You do not need to re-read the chapters; a review of the sections, headings, and key terms should be sufficient. (4) Now, complete the activity. Pay close attention as you watch, listen, or participate in the activity. Your goal is to describe the activity thoroughly; it may help to take a few notes in the process, as you participate. (5) Finally, sit down to write the assignment. Look over the rubric again and make sure you address every element on which you will be evaluated. The word count suggestions should be helpful in knowing how much information to include. You may of course exceed the suggested word count so long as your ideas are focused. At the same time, you should double-check to confirm that you meet the minimum word count. Assignments less than 650 words will not be awarded a passing grade.
