Abstract
Question and Answer Assignment Identity Crisis: Chapter One Identity crisis is identifying/categorizing people using their race, ethnicity, and social class/gender/religion, which lead to conflicts among people. As witnessed during the 2016 presidential campaign, one can argue that Trump's victory became foreshadowed by changes in the Republican and Democratic coalition that was primarily driven by people’s ethnic and racial identity. Trump used race, immigration, gender, ethnicity, and religion as a bridge to get himself into the Whitehouse contrary to the economic forces that define a considerate and credible presidential candidate. The American voters can be defined as the people who embraced the identity crisis from their presidential candidates, which brought forth differences between Trump and Clinton supporters in a great manner during and after the campaigns and elections. As witnessed in one of Trump's campaigns in [City, State], his supporters engaged in chaos with a group that shouted at Trump, indicating the differences among the two groups attributed to an identity crisis (Sides, Tesler, and Vavreck, 2019). Republican proves to be a party whose history in the United States is well defined ever since the time of Abraham Lincoln. However, with the 2016 presidential campaigns, their candidate, Mr. Trump, fostered a rift that spelled differences between the party and the presidential candidate/supporters. Trump's idea of undermining the national fabric proved a potential force that led some republicans to endorse Hillary Clinton as the most deserving presidential. The Republicans argued that Trump though their party’s presidential candidate, does not express respect for their party, denying him the privilege of 100% support. The racial crisis that Trump openly advocated for was not supported by the entire Republican, proving a potential driver of a split amongst republicans.
