Protecting the Ocean: Strategies for Sustainable Environmental Practices

Abstract

Institutional affiliation 10th April 2021 Oceanology Task 1 Protecting the environment in certain ways can help conditions in the ocean. First, reduce, and recycle the specific items we throw away every day to help sustain natural resources and hazardous waste dump space. Second, preserve water through less utilization hence reducing runoff and wastage that might flow in the ocean. Third, volunteer to clean the community with the purpose of conserving watershed. Forth, plant more trees to prevent climate change. Task 2 Local community can reduce marine pollution through preserving local streams. In a situation where rubbish ends up in local streams, it will eventually reach the ocean. The locals can pick the rubbish and plant trees next to the stream to prevent the soil from being rinsed away. Protecting marine environment at local level will prevent the pollution progressing to the oceans. Task 3 The state government can enact the policy that controls and restrict use of the ocean especially on activities that negatively impact marine environment. For instance, state government can incorporate arrest and fines to individuals that dump rubbish and companies that spill oil into marine environment. Task 4 Federal government can assign responsibility to the leaders to determine pollution hotspot and monitor these sites. The laws that protects marine environment exist but the enforcement process is still lacking. Direct orders from the federal government can ensure these laws are implemented and the progress is monitored. Task 5 Governments all over the world can join forces in global campaigns to create awareness about the importance of protecting marine environment. This can be achieved through creating international day where people all over the world match on the street peacefully.
