Abstract
Reflective Analysis on Educational Inequalities Race in America is a term that defines the differences between whites and people of color in the United States of America. It is unfortunate that though a democratic nation, many Americans become subjected to racism, limiting their potential to enjoy their fundamental human rights to the fullest. Education, job opportunities, healthcare, to mention a few, are among the privileges that define inequalities between the white and the people of color as attributed to racism. Paying close attention to education, it is unfortunate that though it serves as strong pillars in defining human beings' future, blacks and whites do not acquire, enjoy, or utilize it in equal portions. The blacks have since time immemorial been denied equal opportunities to education compared to white, making them end up in poverty and leading miserable lives after that. However, scholars like Sonya Douglas and Shawn Aarango have come out clean to enlighten the Americans on the need for education equalities regardless of race. Racism's impact on black education is too loud in that having a black school leader defines the entire institution as weak and not suitable for races of higher standards like the whites. Such effects become specified in Horsford's argument, pointing out that “racism has undermined the integration ideal and subsequent schooling of black children” (Horsford, 2011). Since America is a democratic nation, Horsford emphasizes the need for the expression of democracy in all odds of life education being among the major. To achieve equal education, Horsford advocates for educational reforms, which must be based on the activist moral vision to enhance equitable distribution of this vital right to all Americans without any discrimination. Thus, relevant parties cab enhance education reforms through a defined cross-racial commitment to racial literacy, realism, reconstruction, and reconciliation in American schools and society (Horsford, 2011). Just like Horsford, Ricks, on the other hand, still emphasizes the need for equal education for the whites and the blacks, paying close attention to...
