Abstract

Racial Discrimination in the United States. The unending menace of racial discrimination in the United States has become a concern to many researchers. It is associated with complexity and controversy. The hallmarks of American democracy have been put into question. The people of color allege that they have been oppressed and denied opportunity and freedom in American Society. The people of color doubt a genuine relationship with their white counterparts. The African Americans believe that the ills they are faced with are due to racial discrimination. The concept of race is amusing, heart-wrecking, and disastrous. Many health conditions and psychological conditions affecting African Americans are associated with the torture inflicted by racism. Discrimination has become a health issue. The lives of African Americans have been narrowed down to discrimination in the history of American society. The tremendous psychological and torturous impacts of biasness and discrimination have not been documented. It has remained a silent issue even among the right-minded in society. Racial discrimination is the most prevalent form of injustice that is a threat in society today, leading to social discrimination and inequality. Racial prejudice and segregation exist today in American society due to structural racism. The policies and regulations that govern the country have been associated with the maintenance of white supremacy. The manifestation of this ill aspect of structural racism has been seen recently in the lynching of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery in the spotlight by the American police. The courts are significant perpetrators of injustice and inequality of African Americans. According to (), the intent doctrine requires the victims of discrimination to prove intention to discriminate to get justice, contrary to the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD). The government has not exercised fully what is addressed in article 2 of CERD, which vehemently addresses issues on racial discrimination. The perverse act of discrimination has been influenced immensely by the discriminatory and dehumanizing laws and policies that have evolved generation after generation, yet the government is skeptical. After the death of George Floyd through police brutality it emanated protests and concern worldwide. Civilians held posters high to advocate for intervention. Posters depicted information that shows racism is deeply rooted in the country. Structural racism is evident needs national evaluation. Ownership of homes, education, and fancy rental housing are associated with racial discrimination. There exists continuous segregation and exclusion of African Americans from assessing safe and affordable housing. Heaving suitable housing Complements good health. According to (), health can significantly be affected by the z home's substandard physical conditions, for instance, poor ventilation and pest infestation leading to infectious and chronic diseases. Finding affordable housing for the minority groups in the United States is a struggle and an existential crisis where they have to meet their daily expenses and strive to belong to the United States community. According to (), black and Latino Americans need to earn more than their white counterparts to live in wealthy and affluent neighborhoods. The lending practices are also discriminatory, lending up paying more interest than the Whites. There is a vast chasm between the minority groups and the whites when it comes to social discrimination. Unfortunately, learning as a black in the United States is tedious. According to (), Black boys are almost three times more likely to be suspended than white boys, and black girls are four times more likely to be suspended than white girls. The issue of racial discrimination in our schools is rampant and is negatively affecting student performance. This is a degradation to the country's economy and the future of the nation.
