Abstract
Instructor’s Name Understanding the concept of psychology is an essential aspect of one’s life. Through aspect, it is through this aspect that distinguishes an individual’s behaviors, personality, and thinking. Several factors shape who we are, such as the environment, biology, cultural diversity, and personal experiences. Psychology touches most aspects of our lives. According to (Nicol & Patson 2021), psychology is important in understanding how the body and mind work together. This fosters decision-making, time management, problem-solving, setting goals and achieving them, and improving the quality of life. The concept of memory is wide and diverse. Psychological research plays a significant role in understanding memory. Memory correlates with our daily mental experiences, and without memory, it isn't easy to enact an independent living. Impaired memory deters one from the environment, conscious decision-making, and an ideal future. Until we understand the psychology of memory, we cannot solve our memory impairments. Psychology educates on the problems associated with memory, such as amnesia and associated psychological disorders. According to (Burnston 2021), cognitive psychologists provide clinical-based information that doctors can use in solving mental disorders. We face many challenges and occurrences that affect our memory in our daily lives hence a need to study in school effectively and perform effectively in workplaces to reciprocate. We are enlightened on memory management strategies through psychology such as the rehearsal, chunking, getting enough sleep, and using mnemonic devices. For instance, Mnemonic devices help memorize complex information, such as mathematical operations and formulas. Psychology provides a platform that eases how we retain information, improving our cognitive abilities. According to (Strobach et al., 2016), cognitive training Is a fundamental program useful for teachers, students, or health practitioners to facilitate cognitive abilities. Through psychology, we improve our mental health. A personal experience of memory is learning to drive a car. It is a clear process of encoding, storage, and retrieval of information, after which it becomes an automatic process. When we understand this psychology, we improve our cognitive abilities. Understanding psychology helps in maintaining a conscious state of mind. According to (Alexakos 2021), our consciousness is everything. It is what we are, and through the assertion of psychology in our lives, we understand the different states of consciousness; the healthy and the unhealthy ones. We get to know the negative attributes and behaviors that hinder our state of mind and action and refrain from them. Our consciousness is the heart of understanding many psychological processes, such as learning, deciding, and remembering. It is a fundamental aspect of our sense of morality. When we are conscious, we can distinguish between the vices and the virtues. Consciousness asserts self-control in our lives, and we avoid doing embarrassing or risky things. Understanding this psychological process keeps us focused on engaging in activities such as substance abuse and alcoholism since they suppress our levels of awareness. Sleep alters the level of consciousness, and through it, we begin a new chapter of high conscience when we wake up. Sleep upholds memory and cognition. Enough sleep enhances creative thinking, improves mood, settles emotional problems, and improves mental activity. Sleep deprivation through personal experience yields mental activity, memory loss, and exhaustion. An example we enact in our everyday lives is attending school. In our conscience, getting a basic education is an important aspect in living with people, communication, understanding numerical, and quality life. Through psychology, we can learn the altered states of consciousness and weigh those beneficial and destructive, for instance, understanding meditative techniques that improve stress management and sleep activity. Psychology explores the concept of thinking and intelligence in broad dimensions. It answers the questions of creativity, IQ, the measure of intelligence, and intelligence sources.
