Abstract

Frost and Hughes Discussion Post Both Frost and Hughes are interesting and inspiring poets but I feel more attached to Langston Hughes as his works focuses on lived experiences by well known humans. Frost on the other hand explores complex social and philosophical themes beneath seemingly simple natural settings. While analyzing one of Hughes work like the Harlem, it is open that this poet focuses on lived experiences struggles and aspirations of African Americans. He aims at enlightening his audience on themes of racial identity, social justice and resilience which to me are topics of great relevance as touches directly on the lives of common human beings. Hughes proves interesting to me because of his innovative use of jazz rhythms and vernacular language in his poems. Such an approach makes one feel the reality of his poetry work while addressing the experiences of the people of color. On the other hand, his poetry has a deep engagement with social issues and African Americans identity which makes one not struggle so much to understand his text. His poems are clear and to the poet thus one does not have to wonder around trying to figure out what he aims at delivering to his target audience which makes them interesting. Lastly, Hughes uses powerful, evocative imagery and a strong sense of cultural pride throughout his work. Such a potential makes one feel attached to his poems as one feels like the message is directly meant to address a practical experience that anyone can go through in the course of their living.
