Abstract
Admission essay [University] My childhood was very tough. I grew up in a middle-class family with charming and happy parents. My parents wanted a good life for me and motivated me to do my best in school. However, something was deeply rooted in our family. We had a stuttering disorder, and this turned out to be a misery to me in school. My mother was a victim, and most of my uncles. I had no realization about how stuttering was bad throughout my lower grades, and I became a laughing stock to my friends and colleagues in school. I was bullied, and I felt unhappy and emotionally distressed about the situation. I could be shamed for what I had no control of, and this impacted my life negatively. My mother was very supportive of me. She believed in me even when I could not believe in myself. I had a feeling that someday I would speak normally and address multitudes of people like a confident person. When I was ten years old, I met doctor Hankins. The moment I saw him, I felt relief. We bonded immediately, and he told me he was a speech pathologist and was going to do his best to ensure I am fluent in my speech. He took me through speech therapy, and within a year, I was a perfect speaker. I was motivated and thanked God for restoration. My journey of becoming a speech pathologist began there. I wanted to give back to the community to help those with communication and fluency disorders. Being a doctor is a beautiful profession and involves interaction with patients in a charming way.
