Moonwalking Mastery: The Impact of Repeated Watching on Predicted vs. Actual Performance

Abstract
Hypothesis: In experiment 3, the researcher hypothesized that repeated watching enhances predicted moonwalking performances but not the actual abilities to perform. Such an argument is in harmony with the assumption that, though repeated watching may enhance the moonwalking experiences' predicted outcome, it cannot enhance the participant's actual moonwalking performance. Independent Variable: Watching/Repeated watching Dependent variable: Moonwalking performances Total Number of Participants: The first group of participants consisted of 100 recruits from the researchers’ university subject pool, with 54% of the participants being females. The 100 participants in the first group had a mean age of 26.26 and were required to complete the moonwalk phase for $1.00.The second group consisted of 100 participants recruited from Amazon Mechanical Turk, where females took 30% of the participants. The second group's mean age was 33.06 years, entitled to complete the moonwalk phase for $5.00. The two groups give a total of 200 participants to participate in the third experiment of the moonwalking project. The results: The experiment outcome indicates different results; an adverse effect of exposure to the moonwalk videos enhances the predicted outcomes of the participants’ performance with little to no effects on their actual performance. To this effect, one can argue that the results indicate that high exposure to the moonwalk video (repeated watching) can enhance performers’ moonwalk performances as predicted on the researchers’ hypothesis. On further account, the participants express little to no effect on their abilities upon repeated watching of moonwalk performances from their colleague. Such a result indicates that the predictions hypothesized were fulfilled as expressed by the performers' immediate inabilities to perfection in the moonwalking exercise despite the participants repeated watching. The interpretation: The researcher hypothesized that repeated watching enhances predicted performances but not the actual moonwalking performance. Based on the two groups of participants' outcomes, one can confirm that the findings confirm the hypothesis to great extents. In both experiments, one and two, the participants' exposure to moonwalking watch did not positively impact their abilities. The second experiment results indicate confirmation with the hypothesis where the predicted outcomes match the participants' actual outcome. In the second experiment, just as hypothesized, the participant's actual performance abilities remained un-enhanced even with repeated watching, even with adverse exposure to moonwalking performances. Experiment 4: It is wise to note that the researcher aimed to confirm the initial hypothesis of an easier seen than done concept in this experiment. Experiment four exposed the participants in expressing their abilities in a mirror-tracing game after watching a video in which another person played the game. Just like in experiment 3, the participants predicted that watching the game before their actual performance would enhance their actual performance if engaged in the game. The researchers’ hypothesis remained...
