Optimizing Communication in Long-Distance Relationships: A Grounded Theory Approach

Abstract

Grounded theory Grounded theory is well expressed in almost all the articles as most of them deals with collection and analysis of data from sample participants to offer a conclusive report at the end of their research. For instance, in “Channels of computer-mediated communication and satisfaction in long-distance relationships” Hampton et al., uses a sample that is geographically separated and collects data based on the sample responses. Their conclusions are drawn from a thorough analysis of their collected data based on their problem of study which directly rhymes with this projects topic of study. In most of these articles, this theory remains well expressed through a comparative e analysis of the corrected data making the conclusions meaningful and of great relevance in the present study. Interpersonal theory In all the five articles, the mode of communications used remains directed to a certain effect in the long-distance relationship. As this theory posit, communication in long-distance as expressed in all the five articles is based on a belief that such interactions eventually determines the sense of security, sense and dynamism that motivates communicators behavior. For this reason, advancing technology serves as a potential force that cultivates this belief making long-distance communicators continue expressing their desire to embrace the most viable technology that can security, connectedness, closeness and satisfaction amongst them.
