Abstract

Instructor’s Name Barling, J., & Cloutier, A. (2017). Leaders’ mental health at work: Empirical, methodological, and policy directions. Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, 22(3), 394. The authors of this journal researched a unique topic, employee mental health, which has often escaped attention. The research focused on behavior at the workplace in a broad dimension. The author alludes that leaders’ mental health at work has significantly been ignored. Leaders are considered responsible for the well-being of their employees, limiting their attention. Their behaviors can also influence leaders' mental health. Leaders can be selfish and engage in fraudulent activities that may threaten positive leadership. They may end up stressed making emotional decisions hence affecting their health. The leader's mental health is vital for the employee and the organization. The data for the research were community samples in workplaces where the leader’s mental health was ascertained. The results affirmed that sleep problems, alcohol use, depression and anxiety, early exposure to aggression, and insecure and anxious attachment were some of the adverse effects of a leader’s poor mental health. There is a shortage of organizational policies, procedures, and interventions for leaders’ mental health. Also, a shortage of empirical investigations on the employee progress leads to increased stress levels was evident. The main goal of the reach is to understand the; leaders’ mental health and the ways to mitigate it. The results show positive and negative effects attributed to leaders’ mental health. The researchers acknowledge that more research needs to be done in this field, and further investigations must be done on the topic. Attention needs to be devoted to leaders’ development and their mental health. Noman, S. M., Arshad, J., Zeeshan, M., Rehman, A. U., Haider, A., Khurram, S., ... & Shafiq, M. (2021). An empirical study on diabetes depression over distress evaluation using statistical diagnosis manual and chi-square method. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 18(7), 3755. The authors of this journal acknowledge that diabetes is often associated with depression symptoms, yet it has become a significant global challenge for its prevention and treatment. Diabetes patients encounter a lot of stress and difficulties while treating their condition, and they have to compromise their habits. For instance, they must quit smoking and alcohol to focus on their health. The cause of diabetes has been tied with genetics (family history). The researcher's purpose for the study was to assess diabetes-specific distress, depression, and demographic and sociographic influences in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The data collection entailed 790 actual life Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients from 2017-2020 using a questionnaire and scale measurement by the Beck depression inventory. The research encompasses three major state hospitals in Nigeria, and the 790 patients were scrutinized using the Diabetes Distress Screening and the Diagnosis Statistical manual. Seventy-eighty patients were excluded from the 790, and 712 remained for statistical analysis. Both males and females were used for examination. Based on the data collection in the African country, Nigeria, the researchers conclude that a significant number of Nigeria’s population suffers from diabetes mellitus and depression. The research also found that females were more depressed than males due to menstruation, breastfeeding, menstruation, lack of sleep, and a lack of exercise. Depression and distress were linked to smoking habits, physical fitness, and a history of diabetes. The key attribute in the research was patients with diabetes distress but not stress following the DSM guidelines. The study proves that Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is more susceptible to depressive pain. Redfern, K. (2016). An empirical investigation of the incidence of negative psychological symptoms among Chinese international students at an Australian university. Australian Journal of Psychology, 68(4), 281-289. China has many international students in international schools, especially in Australia. The authors of this journal tried to examine the vulnerabilities of the local and international students on stress, anxiety, and depression and determine the difference between the levels of the three disciplines. The authors allude that studying in a foreign country is overwhelming due to the high demands. The students face a new system, a new social environment, culture shock, homesickness, language barriers, financial difficulties, and discrimination which gives a high potential for stress and psychological disorders. The sample of the study were Chinese International Students and Local Australian students. The...
