Determining where one’s skills and their happiness intersect allows them to make the appropriate career choices that are rewarding and fulfilling. In chapter 11 of their book, Farris & Welch (2015) demonstrate the significance of what one is good at and what they love doing in determining their area of destiny. Throughout my education and pervious career experiences, I find that I am good at leading others to achieve group goals. I have been tasked with leadership responsibilities from when I was young and I find that I am able to develop and promote team objectives. Other people have identified my ability to lead others and tasked me to take the role of team leader when we are working towards a particular goal. My peers in school have often relied on my direction when completing simple or complex projects since they have identified my skills in leadership. Learning that I am good in leading others will have significant implications on defining my career path in in future. An area of destiny is a field involving what people love doing to ensure that they are happy and fulfilled in their lives. Many people quite their careers for a lower pay in search of the fulfillment that accompanies their new job. I have always enjoyed working with numbers when solving complex problems in life. My ideal career choice would involve using numbers and information to identify the causes of problems and developing solutions for my organization. I find it fascinating to analyze trends in numbers and identify how changes in the values reflect on the performance of an entity. Math was my favorite subject in school and it helped that I excelled in performing complex calculations in school. I would love to work in a field where my responsibilities involve using changes in numbers to identify new trends and how they affect the organization. According to Farris & Welch (2015), people may leave a career they are very good at to pursue areas of interest that involve what they love doing. I find the analysis of complex numbers and patterns fulfilling since it describes my abilities and preferences. Finding meaning in calculations and numbers is a career that would best describe my preferences and pursuit for fulfilment in life. It is not always easy to find a career that one is good at, involves what they love doing, and leads to happiness and fulfilment.
