Abstract
Course name Instructor’s name Assignment due date Module Discussion 1: Comprehension Check Children from a young age show interests in learning about STEM concepts and the application of lessons in this area is quite broad. The concept by Clements & Sarama (2016) is directly related to the goal of the project since it uses the community to provide lessons in math and sciences. Students at the kindergarten level will use the topic “community” to use science and math concepts in the real world. The project aims at using familiar experiences of students to promote critical thinking and the sharing of ideas. It aligns with the point Chard (2016) in her article that project work nurtures the interests of the students and promotes learning STEM concepts. The learners will demonstrate their existing knowledge of the topic and its applications. The education field is continuously benefitting from new research on how to meet the learning and developmental needs of the students. An interesting point by the NAEYC (2011) article is the ethical obligation of teachers to current knowledge and teachers to meet the needs of the students. Ideal 1-1.2 requires teachers to be informed on changes in best practices in the field. An interesting point made by Clements & Sarama (2016) is that children can surprise teachers with their ability to grasp STEM concepts. With the right application of project approaches, educators can enhance their learners’ experiences with concepts in math and science from an early age. References Chard, S. (2016, February).
