[Name] [University] 17 March 2024 Week 9 Essay Data Collection Approaches Research Purpose: The purpose of this research study is to understand the correlation between problematic social media use and stress amongst youths and offer recommendations on how to limit uncontrollable media use amongst youths for their mental well-being. Research Question: What is the correlation between Problematic media use and stress amongst youths? While analyzing the correlation between problematic social networking and stress amongst youths, I will use school and community groups as my source of data. Initially I had proposed considering only the JWU students as my primary source of data, but I can also incorporate a community group within our church as another potential source of data that will answer my research question. I believe that having a relatively large sample is imperative as its responses will become generalized to the larger population of youths. The school is a great source as consists of youths whose internet use is well defined, and the community group also constitutes a great number of youths who are always on phone thus can give narration of their experiences which will best respond to the study’s research question. Source 1: The main goal of this study is to understand the connection between uncontrolled media use and stress amongst youths, to this effect, using schools and community groups will offer the researcher an open opportunity to explore lived experienced of the primary victims thus making logical conclusions on the research question at the end of the study. While exploring school as a potential source of data, the use of qualitative methodology will offer students an opportunity to express their experiences from a very considerate approach.
