Abstract

Abstract Character plays a significant role in defining how people live and interact as humans. Openness, consciousness, neuroticism, and extraversion are the primary factors determining any human's personality. After an excellent analysis of my character through the Neo Personality Inventory Test, I can confirm that most of the results matched my self-description. I am an introvert, and the test on the extraversion part rated me as an introvert who withdraws from others, not outgoing and un-lively. The agreeable test rated me as a disagreeable person who fails to engage in interaction for fear of criticism. Consciously, I was rated to be a moderate person who though ambitious, lacks order and the ability to prioritize goals. Average levels of neuroticism were also detected, confirming my mixed reactions to issues. At times, I approach problems stressing with calm and understandable approaches, while other times, I tend to be moody and ruin everything. Personality Theories Overview of What You Learnt About Yourself over the Semester Introduction Human growth and development is a gradual process that involves different development stages. Each development stage defines other effects on an individual. Developmental Psychologist Erik Erikson's theory on psychological development plays a significant role in analyzing such effects as experienced in each development stage. However, it is imperative to note that the different effects experienced in each developmental stage remain influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors that different humans experience throughout their lives (Orestein & Lewis, 2021). To this effect, one can confirm that Erikson's bio-psychosocial approach helps many people best analyze their personality development which helps them understand the formation of personal identity. After engaging in a personality assessment exercise, this essay will offer clear insights into the connection between my prior self-identity and my current self-identity. Interestingly, after closely analyzing my growth and development, I can confirm that most of the assessment results matched my initial self-description. I can confirm that the thorough analysis of my real identity remained demonstrated throughout the assessment process. Starting with the adapted Defense Style Questionnaire results, it is clear that my immaturity levels trigger my stupid approaches while addressing many issues in life. The results for each segment confirmed my maturity was at 45 against a mean of 31.55, Neurotic at four against a mean of 15.79, and immaturity results at five against a mean of 14.79. Initially, I noted I had a weakness in addressing issues I experienced in life. However, I did not understand how my personality defined the direction of any point or argument I engaged intakes. After the Defense Style Questionnaire results, I realized how my character defines my attitude towards issues in life, how I relate with myself and others, and the extent of effects that being an optimism or pessimism has on one's attitude towards any life experiences. I can confirm that the pessimistic approach in life arouses my anger while dealing with my opponents most of the time. Just as the results of my immaturity indicate, I like confirming to people who I am without consideration of the effects of my action. Engaging in unnecessary arguments and fights is solely attributed to my limited self-control and negative attitude towards life. The result, though, confirms that my self-description serves as a pathway to change as such personalities threaten my growth and development at current and in the future. It is high time for me to take care of my emotions to enhance positive thinking in all life situations, which translates to a successful life in the long run. While paying close attention to my personality analysis results as interpreted by the Neo Personality Inventory Test, I was overwhelmed to note that most results closely matched my self-description. However, the results have not impacted me negatively but instead received them as a potential force to strategize a new life by adjusting the negative traits and replacing them with positive qualities that can enhance my social life. Through this personality assessment exercise, I have realized that character plays a significant role in determining us as humans. According to Qanwal & Ghani (2019), openness, consciousness, neuroticism, and extraversion serve as the primary factors determining personality. Through Neo Personality Inventory Test, my introverted nature became confirmed. According to Qanwal & Ghani (2019), introvert ignores the importance of engaging with groups but instead withdraws from social circles and minds their own business by addressing and attending to life issues individually. It is a quality that my friends always confirm through complaints about my limited interest in doing outdoor games with them. I have confirmed that I am not outgoing or socially active and wish to work on such a negative personality to fit in the competitive social and economic world. According to Anderson et al. (2020), a disagreeable personality limits people from acquiring socially-related positions like leadership that remains defined by an individual's potential to engage with others. The agreeableness test described me as a disagreeable person implying that social beings have adversely shaped my introverted nature. I am an introvert and find it challenging to interact with people for fear of criticism. I need to adjust and accommodate agreeableness to fit in my current life and future workplace,...
