Abstract

[Name] La Mission Film 2009 and Walkout Film 2006 La Mission is a film directed by Peter Bratt. The film's central ideas are based on lived experiences for survival in the Mission District of San Francisco that consisted of the Latino community. The film serves as an eye-opener on the effects of becoming a slave to the opinions of society. Based on the film, it is clear that the hardships of survival in the Mission District changed Ches' perception towards life, self-love, and his own family. Che chooses to mind so much about societal perception towards his sons’ personality rather than identifying his role in enhancing his sons’ acceptance within the Latino community. Based on the film, it is clear that gay was primarily associated with homosexuality, an unaccepted taboo within the Latino community. Based on the film, it is open that after the fight with the son and the open critics towards him on his being gay, the society noted his homosexuality and decided to withdraw him from their neighborhood. Che and his brother argue that it was time for the Latino community to redefine masculinity and bring conversations about sexualities out of the closet. At this instance, one can argue that these characters aim to redefine each human's value regardless of their sexuality and the need to embrace and accept each other's sexuality without any inconsiderate judgment. La Mission is a film that portrays a clear picture of Latinos' attitude towards gay culture. It is imperative to note that most Latino children who define themselves as gay face a lot of criticism, and most especially from their parents, who ought to be in the first place is giving them moral support for their defined personalities. The physical violence expressed by Che towards his son is a clear indication that most gay victims within minority groups tend...
