Abstract

[Name] In his book [Author], Kristin Anderson provides a detailed overview surrounding feminism in the US in the 21st century. He includes research and theory to enhance understanding of feminism and its influence in the US. Anderson argues the existence of a false analogy that women are already empowered by feminists’ acts ignoring individual misogyny of women. The book is summarized in 170 short pages and six chapters with a detailed analysis of feminism and issues surrounding it in the US In chapter 1, Anderson focuses on individualism and consumer choice. Issues such as sexual harassment, assault, and discrimination have been termed as individual problems and are ignored even though they are the real perpetrators of inequality (p, 9). Anderson argues that the problems have been addressed by feminists and are no longer issues that affect a huge population, and anyone experiencing it carries the armor alone. The modern misogynists allude that the feminist movement that gives women the power to air out their views has become a form of manipulation of men since they face hostility and are demeaned by these feminists. This chapter also focuses on men’s vulnerability since it is a social norm that men are masculine and should not express their emotions when facing tribulations. However, Anderson alludes that feminists are not on the verge of surpassing men, and their intention is free. They are just trying to gain masculinity traits and skills for their advancement. In chapter 4, Anderson focuses on the myth of the boy-man crisis. Women are getting as much attention in workplaces, education, and general welfare, which has rendered men lagging. Women have always been termed marginalized in society, and attention has been shifted to them, leaving men vulnerable and needy. However, with tedious research, Anderson cites many sources that allude women are...
