Course name Instructor’s name Assignment due date Module 3 Discussion: Milestone Preparation The topic I chose for Milestone 1 assignment is Romain Grosjean’s crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2020 that resulted in the car bursting into flames. The topic is the category of vehicular damages where one car hit an obstacle and crashed, leading to the driver suffering burns and minor injuries (Saunders, 2025). Vehicular accidents are an important topic for the first milestone of this course since they have a significant societal impact on life and property. My personal reason for choosing this topic is the potential impact it has on human life when accidents occur and lead to injuries and death. Engineers and health professionals have relied on physics to improve safety on roads and during car sporting events. Insights from the accident and the impact it had on the body of the driver could demonstrate the progress that engineers have made in making cars safer using research on collisions. The vehicular accident is important since it produced some of the most spectacular images in Formula One racing and engineering saved the driver’s life. Determining the physics behind the accident could demonstrate how similar engineering could be employed on roads to increase safety. The first milestone connects course materials to the society by showing how physics affects the outcomes of accidents. Using physics, researchers in the engineering and medical fields have increased their understanding on what happens during accidents and how they affect the human body.
