Unlock Effective Online Reading: Strategies from Open Education Videos

Abstract

I have gone through the videos and I can confirm that they offer distinctive advice on how to read materials online. Based on the video Open Education Resources (OES)is very essential as prepares learners on how to read materials online where the instructor may issue students with links to articles, textbooks and other readings online (00:07-48). In order to enhance effectiveness while reading online, one should eliminate distractions to maintain focus. It is open that while reading online, one is open to all forms of distractions like facebook, instagram, wassup among other social media platforms thus the need to shut them down to be able to concentrate with what one is reading about. It is also wise to set time limit as reading continuously without break might be tiring. To this effect, it is important to give yourself a break to allow your eyes rest and reflect what you read during the break. Effective online reading can also be achieved through identifying why one is reading and previewing before you read (02-05-59). While having a purpose beside your study, one will be able to identify a document to study in relation to ones interest thus make highlights, preview the title, headings and subheadings along any other relevant information so as to make informed choices of the content as well as understand what one is reading . Getting prepared to take notes is also imperative as it helps identify where one got the text from for future reference. The use of bootnote, paper (ios) evernote among others will help a lot in making notes while reading online.
