Exploring Community Connections: A Hands-On Learning Project

Course name Instructor’s name Assignment due date Module 6: Share Project Plan By implementing the community plan, I will provide the children an opportunity to reflect on their social and physical environment while learning. They will observe the communities in their homes, classroom, and school and engage actively in the learning process. I plan to take the children to the park and to a fire station where they will interact with members of their community and reflect on their roles. The project nature of the learning exercise will involve an active participation of the students in creating learning materials including a picture book completed by the end of the project. Their participation will be an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences with their peers in the classroom and offer room for their parents and other family members to be engaged in the learning process. For instance, the children will ask their parents to assist them in collecting pictures that they will present to the classroom. The project approach provides a unique opportunity for the students to experiment with different learning materials available at school and at their homes. I intend to conduct an overall assessment of the project completion approach that will involve collecting data on participation and the achievement of project goals. The children will be assessed on their knowledge and skills before, during, and after the completion of the project to determine their progress on the topic. Learning about the community will provide skills in math, science, and language arts for the children in the classroom. They will be encouraged to use their creativity during the learning process and be assessed on their successful participation.
