Transforming Policing: The History and Promise of Community-Based Approaches

Abstract

Paper Assignment/Prompt Guidelines Prompt: Explain the history of community-based policing (CBP), and how the principles of community-based policing can help police departments reform to meet the current desires of the community. Cite specific examples of topical areas or utilize a real department as an example and breakdown different areas where CBP principles would help complete some degree of reform. For example, you could apply CPB principles to use of force and building trust. What principles would apply to these topical areas. Or, you could take a department like the Seattle Police Department and apply CBP principles to help them achieve desired reform. Format: The paper should be between 5 to 7 pages long, double-spaced using Times New Roman in 12-point-font. The Cover Page and Reference Page are not included in the final page count. It should have one-inch margins and contain page numbers. Students must write their paper using APA Format 7th Edition (Student Format).
