It is necessary to consider the implications of cultural differences on the discussions that an educator has with the family members of their child. Being honest and preparing adequately for the conversation with parents is necessary to ensure that the educator presents accurate information on the child based on their understanding. As an early childhood teacher, I would have a checklist indicating the important strengths and weakness on the development of the child that are relevant to the communication. It is necessary to ensure that teachers demonstrate knowledge of both the child and the expectations for development at a particular age. Adequate preparation would ensure that I have the background of the child and I address the key issues and concerns the family should consider. The communication between early childhood teachers and their children seeks to provide support for the child and it is important to be honest and accurate. Family members play a major role in the development of children and their active involvement is necessary in the communication. I would encourage them to share their suggestions on the support their child needs and how we could achieve particular developmental goals.
