The cognitive development involves basic sensory and motor skills, language abilities and symbolic thinking. Middle childhood (6-11 years) - Analysis of the concrete operational stage as argued by Piaget to understand the main characteristics of children cognitive thinking during this stage. The emergence of concrete operational thinking allows for more advanced logical reasoning and problem-solving within this age bracket. Since education starts here, children experience information processing abilities enhancing their memory, attention among other school-related cognitive skills. Adolescence (12-18 years)- Analysis of Piaget’s formal operational stage. This is a stage that marks the development of a humans abstract thinking abilities as well as the hypothetical reasoning. There are significant cognitive developmental changes during puberty thus the need to understand the impact of hormonal changes to understand the cognitive abilities of this age bracket victims.
