As an educator, I would offer resources and promote activities that improve literacy skills in the classroom. Oral language practice is one of the tools that could promote language in the classroom for early childhood students. Activities such as play and singing allow students to practice their literacy abilities and improve their skills in the classroom. Additionally, participating orally in the classroom is an activity that would promote literacy practices for students. Promoting group and peer learning where students practice using new works encourages the learners to practice their acquired skills. Children who develop literacy skills early in life are likely to be successful in other classroom activities and subjects. Reading offers learners the exposure to new words that they can add to their vocabulary. As an early childhood teacher, I would promote the use of the words learners acquire in the classroom by including them in conversation. Students would benefit from literacy practice with their families at home such as reading books and practicing using new words. I would involve families in promoting learning among children to improve their learning experiences in their homes. In particular, second language students would benefit from more practice reading and speaking new words in the classroom. Adaptive strategies such as singing and speaking during play would promote literacy practices and skills among second language students. My goal would be to promote comprehension and practice in reading and speaking through innovative practices in the classroom.
