Week 6 Discussion 1: Organizational Cultural Analysis Chosen Company: Wegmans Food Market is a company in the Food and Drug Store industry whose headquarters are in [City, State] City. Chosen Country: India Organization Vision: “We are committed to delivering a consistently excellent customer experience by offering a wide range of quality products, a passion for food and supporting our communities while delivering exceptional place to work” (Spechler, 2017). It is a vision that reflects Wegmans belief of good people working together for a mutual course can accomplish anything they are set to do. To this effect, their goal to outsmart their competitors through defined services that addresses the needs of their targets remains well reflected in their vision. It is a vision that expresses this company’s urge to serve their customers to their satisfaction as a reflection of the company’s overall success in attainment of its main goal in business. Community involvement through a strong sense of community and social responsibility in India aligns with Wegman’s commitment to support the community. Also the passion for food in India is well defined as the country has a rich and diverse culinary culture which can serve this company well as it emphasises on quality food and variety which could resonate with Indians urge to consume. However, due to cultural differences, Wegmans adaptation in India may become a challenge especially with varying preferences and also retail competition since Indian market is more competitive than the United States. Organization Mission: “To help our customers live healthier, better lives through food” (Spechler, 2017). The mission is clear and signifies Wegmans simple commitment to offer its customers the best every day. The mission expresses defined collaborative efforts of Wegmans workforce to achieve a common goal which is serving their customers with quality food products that will enhance their living. This is a mission that aligns with various aspects of Indian culture and consumer preferences while at the same time it may fail to align with this country due to cultural differences among other unique considerations. For instance, India has a rich and diverse culinary heritage and fresh-high quality ingredients align with Wegmans commitment to satisfy its customer with quality food for healthier life. Community and family values as embraced in Indians culture aligns with Wegmans urge to support communities through quality products that aligns with their cultural preferences. However, due to cultural differences of the two nations, the diverse dietary preference for the Indians would force Wegmans to dig deep into their revenues to cater for such demands. Organization Core Values: Caring, High standards, Respect, Empowerment, Innovation, Teamwork, Honesty, Fun and Responsible Stewardship. Wegman wishes to pursue excellence in everything it does as reflected in its core values (Cocito-Monoc, 2018).
