Abstract

Course name Instructor’s name Assignment due date Walmart’s Decision to Expand Walmart should conduct a comparative analysis of the expansion options available to determine the appropriate choice for the company. They should consider the impact of each option on short-term and long-term profits to manage their growth strategy. One of the factors that affect growth through expansion is the trade restrictions that America has with other nations and could affect the appropriate target market for the company’s growth strategy. Moreover, the organization must assess the tariffs and the impact they have on the profits that company generates from various markets (Bezuidenhout et al., 2020). Tariffs affect the costs of running a business and the volume of sales for organizations in various markets. Moreover, the exchange rates of the dollar and the currencies of target markets are critical aspects of considerations requiring the company to choose a region with a stable currency. Other macroeconomic factors affecting expansion include the economic growth of the target market and the impact this has on the performance of a business. The company should make growth decisions based on the current and future prospected growth of the economy. A recession in the target market can affect the purchasing power of the consumers and make it unbearable for expansion for Walmart (Gwartney et al., 2014). The size of the target market could affect the potential for the company’s capacity to generate revenue to meet the future growth prospects. When making expansion decisions, the organization should consider the impact of key macroeconomic factors on the potential of the market and the company’s sales.
