Abstract
Voter ID Liberals and conservatives have different opinions on voting behavior. Conservatives associate themselves with republicans, while liberals follow the democrats. According to the New York Times, the voter ID debate shows a clash of interests between the two political parties. The conservatives are seen to support the voter ID laws while the liberals oppose. The conservatives believe that illegal immigrants will find their way to voting massively for the democrats leading to voter fraud without voter IDs. The liberals, on the other hand, argue that voter IDs reduce the turnout of African American voters, declining them the right to vote. The two parties conflict, and it isn't easy to ascertain the truth beneath it. The voter IDs have no problem. They are legitimate in ensuring that only registered voters cast their votes. However, according to The Atlantic, the republicans have no substantial proof of voter fraud in the absence of voter IDs, questioning its validity. According to the liberals, it is evident that voter IDs deny voters to express their right to vote. According to (Bush 2019), The Electoral Commission’s report into the government’s trials of voter ID in the 2019 local elections led to 2,000 people being turned away from polling stations due to the lack of proper identification – 750 of them did not return. Liberals argue that as long as one is a registered voter, they can walk to a polling booth and cast a vote since their details are checked in the registration list. The constitution has not yet legitimized the right to vote using voter IDs.
