Abstract

Government and Economics: Trumps Legacy Government and Economics: Trumps Legacy Donald Trump has been the most controversial presidents that Americans have related with for the term he has been in office. Since his inauguration in January 2017, Donald J trump had promised many changes meant to end the carnage that the American community has been facing over time. He had promised that only he had the powers to change the laws that would deal with the dysfunctional nation he was given after his inauguration. After four years of his terms in office, despite many failures, Donald Trump will be remembered for some of the policies which he put in place for the American people. One legacy is that Trump used his powers through his close allies to deploy the military to the capitol in the demonstration against joe bidden election. From the report by Forbes, it was stated that as riots increased in the capitol, Lt Gen. Charles Flynn, a brother to trumps advisor Michael Flynn was involved in talks to deploy the military to deal with the issue (Hart, 2021). There was the reluctance to deploy the national guard to deal with the problem. There were rumors that Flynn was not in meetings to discuss the issue although he came back and confirmed that he was in the discussions (Prasad, 2021). This one legacy which Trump brought forth where he involved the army in political ramifications. This is because the brother is a conspiracy theorist who had even stated that the military should overthrow the election citing irregularities. Although the military was meant to 'deescalate' the things at the capitol, Michael Flynn's involvement in operation brought controversies (Hart, 2021). Michael Flynn was former national security and had been reported to have lied to the FBI and was later pardoned by Donald Trump. This one legacy that Trump has left of misusing the military for self-interests. Another legacy that Trump will be remembered for is his pardoning of 73 people and sentencing of 70 others in his last times in office. With a wide array of pardoning, Trump has created many friends who were considered enemies of his administration (Al Jazeera, 2021). For instance, he pardoned his former aide Steve Bannon, which was referred to as the last wave of clemency and commutations while he was winding up his administration (Prasad, 2021). Because Trump had repeatedly stated that the movement was only starting, this could be a legacy he could make by bringing his enemies closer to deal as critics to the administration going in being led by Joe Bidden (Al Jazeera, 2021). This could be a legacy which could make his critics flourish if well planned and could be a good part of his legacy. Another legacy that Trump has left is the force that police force uses on the leftwing protestors compared to white wing protestors. In the last ten months of Trump administration, it has been found that police use three times force when dealing which leftwing protestors as compared to the whitewing protestors (Beckett, 2021). This is data obtained from a non-profit organization that assesses political violence cases globally. In the last year of Trump administration, the police have been found out to have used excessive force, teargas, pepper sprays and the use of dubber bullets when they are dealing with the cases of Black Lives Matter compared to the pro-trump demonstrations which are the rightwing protests (Beckett, 2021).
