Abstract

Roe Vs. Wade 1973 The case of Roe vs. Wade was a landmark in the United States' decision-making. The courts ruled that the constitution provides a pregnant woman has the liberty and privacy to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction. The argument on abortion is very controversial regarding its moral, legal, and religious status. Denying women a right to their bodies is a punishment (Stefan 933). Men and women contribute to the abortion debate, yet hate and blame are directed at women and girls. Anti-abortionists’ sentiments uphold men’s privileges at the expense of women. No man is punished under the law for unwanted pregnancy, but women are considered wicked for doing an abortion. To make a woman undergo the adversity of pregnancy and childbirth involuntarily is punitive. I have had friends face emotional pulldown, others bedridden, life-threatening eclampsia, and death because of the overwhelming demands of pregnancy. Pregnancy disrupts life. Forced motherhood and forced parenting deny the mother an opportunity for employment and access to opportunities. It drags a person’s life backward due to the unlimited responsibilities that are burdening and demanding. Anti-abortionists argue that you can give away a child at birth. How is this even logic? Giving away a child at birth comes with psychological and physical changes. Pregnancy comes with physical changes, and women may not love themselves anymore. Its no doubt that giving away a baby at birth comes with trauma and mental meltdown. Women who have children risk abortion because of the desire to raise and parent the existing children well. Roe vs. Wade is right due to the adverse effects of pregnancy and childbirth. The experience of birth is intriguing, and the act of bringing it involuntarily is a disaster. Work Cited Ştefan, Ionuţ.
