Abstract
BMGT Week 4 on Quantitative/Qualitative Approaches (Rough Draft) Outline Elements of a quantitative approach Theory: It serves as an explanation of a natural phenomenon while tested quantitatively Concepts: This element expresses an abstraction that is formed by generalization from particulars Constructs: In a quantitative approach, this element can be defined as a concept with an added meaning which has been adopted for a specific scientific purpose Problem: Serves as a question that tests the relationship between two or more variables Hypotheses: An element that tests the assumption of the relation between two or more variables. This element is treated as a hypothetical statement whose assumption calls for testing before confirmation. Quantitative data analysis approach for VMI Closed-ended questionnaire and survey: It is evident that this data analysis approach aids in enhancing the statistical evaluation of a situation. The closed-ended questionnaires give the respondents a limited chance to explore their feelings on the topic of study but, on the contrary, answer specifically from the choices given (Frechtling, 2002). With specific answers given on an issue, the researcher can get the right figures that define the right conclusions regarding a situation. For instance, in VMI, the closed-ended questionnaires and survey will allow the researcher to get a clear overview of the extent of the effect that the anticipate change has on VMI workers. For this reason, one can argue that this approach will allow for the realization of measurable reactions from the main victims of the anticipated change, which can enhance the formulation of the best remedy for the same.
